A credit
is the basic unit of measurement of educational coursework. One credit
normally represents either 10 hours of lecture-recitation or 20 to 40
hours of laboratory or activity work. Portland State operates on a quarter
system; credits offered are quarter credits. Three PSU (quarter or term)
credits are equal to two semester credits. Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate
students carrying 12 or more undergraduate credits, and graduate students
carrying nine or more graduate credits, are generally considered full-time
students. Audited courses do not count toward full-time status.
